In this blog we are going to share some knowledge about metallized film lamination and give a further analysis. There are some varieties under vacuum metalized film, with each items extends its application in flexible packaging.
VMPET film: In flexible packaging lamination for VMPET film with thickness 12 microns is the most used, which usually acts as middle barrier and support layer in the foil laminate. The most common structures are BOPP18/VMPET12/LDPE, PET12/VMPET12/LDPE, PA15/VMPET12/LDPE.
In these foil laminated structures, VMPET film works as a good middle support layer and barrier layer, which can be converted into stand-up pouch packages. The final application is realized with enough barrier performance for many packages, like food packaging, pet packaging, coffee beans packaging, tea and condiment packaging, etc.
VMCPP film: is short for vacuum metalized casting polypropylene film, which is achieved by depositing a thin layer of aluminum atoms onto the surface of CPP film, so one side of CPP film is finalized with metallic effect with high barrier property, and the other side is also available for heat sealing. The most used thickness of VMCPP film is 20~30 microns. In flexible packaging lamination for VMCPP film, the most common laminated structures are BOPP18/VMCPP20, PET/VMCPP20.
The foil lamination are widely used for many food products, like potato chips, cookies, biscuits, nuts, candies, etc.
VMBOPP film: there are many varieties of BOPP film in flexible packaging applications.
- BOPP plain film: clear transparent, printable.
- BOPP heat sealable film on one side
- BOPP heat sealable film on both sides
- Pearlized BOPP film.
All these items can be metalized with aluminum layer, and then further converted to packages for chocolate, candy, cookies, etc.
